Travel insurance for Americans is critical when you travel internationally, especially having pre existing conditions covered. I will cover both the best Comprehensive Plans that cover trip cancellation, trip interruption and medical/accident coverage, as well as the best Medical Only plan. I will show you the best plans that have all your pre existing conditions covered, at a bargain rate, even if you are a senior. I’ll tell you key things to look for when selecting a travel insurance policy and what to avoid.

🔴 My video about using Medicare international: Medicare for Americans Traveling Overseas https://youtu.be/aNu4-RWQ91I
Excellent video and information!
I’ve followed you a while now and have talked to Natt about coverage in TH. Any way we can connect?
Randy, do any of these companies offer an annual plan? Besides cruising we do a number of road trips we do our plane flights to places, especially in the winter. You know we’re in our 70s thanks. Good video.
Are you familiar with MASA? We just got a yearly plan with them but I'm not sure if we'll keep it
Great stuff Randy. Waiting on next years advantage plan details. It seems the worldwide emergency coverage may be going away here in Arizona. Heading back to Thailand in a few weeks.
all that changes after 70 years old
Is this only for Americans travelling wherever or is it for anyone in the world to buy from?
Will these work for longer travel? Like 6 months?
I'm planning a family trip to El Salvador. My wife and I are coming from Utah, and my 2 daughters, 1 son in law and 2 grandchildren comting from Texas. What do I say about the state I'm coming from?
I know you shouldn’t give legal advice because every situation is different. You already disclosed that you’re an attorney which is great as you’re more knowledgeable than most with regard to contracts or agreements. It might be helpful if you provided us with some information on how to proceed with a claim. What information might be useful when reporting your issue. What information should not be discussed as people tend to let their emotions get the better of them. Most are not trained at how to… just a thought
I find travel insurance complicated and expensive – especially for CFAR. If cruising (non-refundable $), sounds like I can purchase good medical/evacuation (ship-land), and repatriation at possibly Insuremytrip, and then add CFAR to the policy separately within the 21-day grace period; correct?
Thank You, Randy, for filming, editing, and publishing this very informative video. I live in Miami, Florida. I previously lived in Colombia, and would like to visit Colombia and other Latin American countries in the future. The most likely countries would be Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Costa Rica. I am 72 years old and in good health. I am currently on a Humana Medicare Advantage program. Any things for me to keep in mind? I Liked this video, and Subscribed to your Channel.
I just booked with AEGIS … comparitively $1,000 less then my quote (direct) with Allianze … thank you so much … happy travels …
This fantastic. Thank you! I have a question—what do you recommend for a "blended" trip overseas? We have 4 days in Barcelona, then a 16 day TransAtlantic cruise? My concern is needing medical help on the cruise, out in the middle of the ocean. Thank you.
For retirees that travel frequently, an annual policy is far superior to a single trip policy. The best medical and evacuation annual policy that I have found is GeoBlue. If you want a comprehensive annual policy I recommend Allianz All-Trips Premier. You are doing your viewers a disservice by not talking about annual policies!
Great information. I have a question. I take blood pressure and blood thinner medications, I did not purchase insurance within the 21 day window of my cruise deposit. If I purchase medical coverage insurance and have a heart attack on my cruise will it be covered?
Thank you for the very informative information.
Good info. Medicare supplemental covers 80% of foreign emergency coverage – you're still on the hook for 20%. And no Medicare part D coverage. I wouldn't want to guess how well a Medicare Advantage gatekeeper covers foreign emergency treatment.
Thanks Randy for the info. I'm getting ready for a 2-week trip to Chiang Mai and will look into what you suggested for medical only. I'm curious if these plans would work for somebody who is doing the "slow travel" mode continuously ? Just thinking and wondering…… thanks for sharing the info !
Love all the info. Thank you.
Medicare Supplement Plan F has a lifetime maximum of $50,000 so that limit might be easy to hit in worst case scenario
50% indian insurance companies investment now 50% foreign Insurance Company investment all types insurance
Do any of these plans cover cruise trips?
There are two types. Trip insurance and Travel Medical insurance. Trip insurance covers hotels, luggage, flights, excursions. Travel insurance covers medical but can be a hybrid of both. Having spoken with many brokers and agents, they will identify them as such. As an RN, I have yet to find a hybrid that does both well. We personally only use Trip insurance to cover a repositioning cruise and flights to our initial destination as long term travelers. We travel 9-10 months per year. We book our lodging and other transfers as refundable.
It is rarely the medical/hospital bills that are expensive overseas. It is the emergency evacuation or interfacility air ambulance to a higher level of care facility. Consider this as well: If you are on a cruise ship and require immediate airlift or ship to ship transfer/transport via their Coast Guard or equivalent it can be extremely high. Many plans out there have a LIFETIME MAXIMUM for their plans too, so be forewarned. Another point of interest for veterans covered by the VA. The VA will only cover conditions that are service connected. Keep all receipts and paperwork to submit for reimbursal to them too.
I have to disagree with your statement that adding a second person to travel insurance only costs a nominal amount. I have purchased travel insurance for years, using different companies, and I have found that the cost of adding my husband (who is four years older than me) is higher than the cost of insurance just for myself.
Cruises?
Nobody ever addresses the 69-70m year old; they are so focused on the mythical 60. Can we find Insurance that we can afford on a small pension?
New subscriber here. Thanks for your hard work!
Hi Randy, thank you so much for taking the time to do research on this important topic and sharing it. You've done a wonderful job in explaining every aspect in layman terms. My question is, have you or do you know anyone who has had first hand experience filing claims with the companies you mentioned and how the process went? I would appreciate your feedback.
Love this and have shared with my clients. As a Travel Advisor this is great information.
Great Video! Especially the part about booking a plan with Primary Med Coverage. I do think Travel Insured International is a really good plan but it really would be nice to have an app instead of having to call a 1-800 number if problems arise. Faye on the other hand has a really slick app and people rave about it. ONE THING TO NOTE: If you live in the state of WA, they will only cover you for a max of $25,000 for medical. All other states are $250,000. I called customer service to ask why it was so low and she said it is just something about the insurance rules in WA. She did say to check back in a couple months as they are trying to negotiate this with Washington State.
Thanks for the video – one other option is to have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card with travel benefits along with MedJets Annual Plan – those combined seem to offer significant coverage.
I recall in the past, before we booked online and mainly used travel agents, everything was paid up front. What if you want to pay hotels and some other things up front or if they require it. My feeling is also that they aren't likely to pay anything and charging for age is bull. It's like pet insurance, seems like a waste of money.
What about Medicaid?
What about Hathaway, I checked reviews and besides Faye, they appear to be the only ones that do not have bad reviews.
Awesome job! thank you for the video.
What if you want to slow travel for a year? It seams theses companies are more geared for a fixed duration and location of travel
Great video! To comment on the using Medicare internationally part, even if you have an Advantage plan that covers overseas, you probably still want to get evacuation coverage because that is what can really bankrupt you! Also, you might want to research and make a video about annual multi-trip plans for those of use that travel a lot, specifically on a lot of cruises!
DO NOT USE Allianz. !!!!! I've been fighting a claim for one YEAR !!! They asked or documents….I sent them 20-25….then they want something else. What a mess. Guess I need a lawyer !!!
What about Faye?
For every youtube video on travel insurance there's a different recommendation. Seems to me these are all paid endorsements.
Hello Randy, thank you for your video. I wish you can share with me how you can obtain and Agent as you stated in your video.
